Lineside from Feldkirch to Vienna - Part 3

The scenes in this series of 4 DVDs were recorded from lineside in the late 1980s & early 1990s when Austrian Railways were still using some delightful old technology. Each DVD provides over one hour of viewing.

Part Three continues our journey at Selzthal where we watch activity around the roundhouse and observe trains reversing their direction en route between the Ennstal & the Schober Pass. We move on to Hieflau where there is a flurry of activity as services arrive & depart in a matter of moments. We take a good look at the narrow gauge Ybbstalbahn at Waidhofen a/d Ybbs, Göstling & Lunz am See before visiting the preserved Steyrtalbahn at Grünburg. This part of our journey concludes back on the Westbahn main line at Amstetten where old, rebuilt and new locomotives share the limelight.

Technical Notes

Most scenes on this DVD were recorded in S-VHS format during the late 1980s and early 1990s using a Sharp VL-S860 videocamera. Overlaid sub-titles have been added to inform the viewer, but following the title sequence and a simple menu there is no music and no commentary – the trains provide the sound track!
